Using routinely collected patient data to study the impact of Type 2 Diabetes on Cancer

Scientific rationale of the study

• What is cancer? What’s the epidemiology?
• What is diabetes? What are the different types? What’s the epidemiology?
• What are the links between them in terms of epidemiology?
• What are the potential mechanisms for these links? i.e. does diabetes play a role in the development of cancer?
• Does diabetes influence cancer outcomes? In diabetes vs controls. We will focus on breast and colorectal cancer and use lung cancer for comparison
